Hi everyone! Mel from ReachHealth. So continuing on with our theme of headaches for this month, today I want to talk about what most people commonly call the tension headache.
Tension headaches are generally that band-like pain around the head which are centered around the temple, sometimes behind the eyes. What a lot of people don’t know about these tension-style headache is very often it’s actually coming from the jaw. Specifically, tension in the jaw. Tension in the jaw is generally created from clenching or grinding overnight. The main reason most people clench or grind is stress. What you might not know though is that the actual action of clenching andgrinding, what that actually does is it actually stresses out the nervous system itself. So what happens is we end up in a vicious cycle of stress, making us clench or grind, and then clenching and grinding actually stressing the nervous system. And then it feeds back on itself, and 9 times out of 10 we end up with headaches.
